Teacher Training Program

Ongoing

Haraya’s Teacher Training Program is a hands-on initiative that equips aspiring educators, youth leaders, and volunteers with the tools to teach literacy effectively in low-resource, high-need environments.

Teaching with purpose. Training through practice.

In the Philippines, we need more than curriculum, we need people. People who know how to teach not just reading, but recognition. Who can meet a child where they are, and walk with them toward who they might become. Haraya’s Teacher Training Program grows those people from the ground up, one classroom, one child, and one future teacher at a time.

Our Teacher Training Program offers an immersive, hands-on experience for aspiring educators who want to make a real impact in underserved communities.

Side by side with experienced mentors, trainees work with struggling readers in our literacy classrooms, gaining the skills, confidence, and mindset needed to support diverse learners.

Learning by Doing

Each trainee works directly with struggling readers through Haraya’s Project Literacy in the Tondo area. Trainees perform supervised teaching  weekly inside the classroom, applying trauma-aware and phonics-based strategies under the mentorship of our Master Teacher, Teacher Alma.

Weekly Theory + Practice

On top of in-the-classroom training, our trainees must attend weekly reflective and theory sessions led by our Director of Education, Juan Genaro Santos. These sessions ground classroom experience in literacy theory, discuss case studies, and unpack teaching practices from the week, bridging research and reality.
